One Beeeelion Kronor
Reading through the headlines in The Local today, I came across this story about the recent windfall reported by the Swedish post office. Nothing too unusual, I thought—just like its US counterpart, the Postal Potentates around here seem to be raking in the money hand over fist while complaining about the imminent threat to their business from other courier services, Teh Intarweb and so on. Plus ça change and all that...Partway down the article, however, this bit caught my eye (emphasis mine):
Fewer people than ever are using the Kassaservice cash counters, which Posten is in the process of winding up. The volume of transactions fell by 120% last year.A drop of 120 percent, eh?
I'm confused. Does that mean that they're actually paying people to use the cash counters? Or that a negative number of people (anti-people?!?) are using them?
Oooooooh, this makes my brain hurt.
All I want to know is, if I show up at the post office, do I get some dough?
